Everyone is talking about the experimental IDM duo Matmos and their new album “Ultimate Care II.” Even People Magazine, who recently posted a feature article about the duo with complementary remarks. What's the big deal? Well, Matmos just wrapped up an album that used mostly sounds from a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II in their basement.
The album is out February 19th on Thrill Jockey Records. A preview has already been added to SoundCloud and you can stream it below. Along with their treasured washing machine, the duo also recruited a New York artist named Ted Mineo to render a digitally “glitched up” washing machine as the album cover. Listen here:
