Exclusive Premiere – Far East Movement Interview + “The Illest” Remixes

Far East Movement (best known for their 2010 radio hit “Like a G6”) definitely know how to get a party started. For their recently released song “The Illest” FEM teamed up with Mad Decent native, the one and only, Jody Highroller aka RiFF RaFF. Well, today we bring you the world premiere of the remix package of that song.

The package features remixes from the likes of Deorro, Victor Niglio, Rell The Soundbender, and KTown Shekki vs Savage. The remixes features a versatile blend of Electro and trap remakes of “The Illest.” Not going to lie, the only artist I was actually familiar with prior to hearing this remix package was Deorro, but not to worry all the producers featured on compilation kill their individual remixes with their own unique style of production. My personal favorite version is Rell The Soundbender’s hyphy trap remix, but thats besides the point. Check out the remix package below and tell us which one is your favorite! Also, under that you can watch the footage of RiFF RaFF and Far East Movement performing the ORIGINAL version of “The Illest” at Mad Decent Block Party this past weekend in Los Angeles.

Below you can read a short but sweet interview we wrote while chopping it up with them a week or so back. Enjoy!

EDM Sauce: How was working with RiFF RaFF?
Far East Movement: It was random, but Jody [Highroller aka RiFF RaFF] came up with his verse for the track quick.

EDM Sauce: How was Mad Decent Block Party?
Far East Movement: Good, we played “The Illest” with RiFF RaFF live.

EDM Sauce: How did you guys go about selecting producers to remix the track?
Far East Movement: We chose artists who we were already fans of. We're on Soundclound a lot and we're all about the quality, not how many fans or followers the artist has.

EDM Sauce: How did you guys get into the music scene?
Far East Movement: Started off as massive music fans, going to a lot of shows and clubs. Eventually we started making music in our kitchen using software like Acid Pro and Fruity Loops. We were constantly hustling; passing out our CDs to any and everyone we could until we got our big break when the director from Tokyo Drift decided to use our track “Like a G6” in their film. By 2007 we were playing sold out in shows in Amsterdam and on top of the world when just a year or two before we were still passing out our music at the mall.

EDM Sauce: Anything new coming up with Far East Movement?
Far East Movement: Yeah, we have a new project coming out with Rell the Soundbender called Murder with Bass. We are also working on a new album.
EDM Sauce: Thanks for your time guys!
