Despite the 500 noise complaints from local Chicago residents during this year's EDC in Chicago, the local government in Joliet said that there will indeed be an EDC 2014.
Insomniac worked very closely with Joliet this year by paying roughly $1 million to stagehands, police and fire personnel. A city council member did warn the Joliet city manager that it would be a “colossal rave synonymous with drugs.” “Will stuff happen? Yes it will. But, do you really want me turning away hundreds of thousands of dollars….? Unless we are ready to start looking at tax hikes, I need to keep bringing in new revenue opportunities, especially if we have the right facility for the event.”
After the event though the council member took back his opinion saying that the festival went “smooth as silk” besides the noise problems.
