Freshly minted single “Grind” by Hydraulix, Oski, and Creaky Jackals further enforces the creativity and sound design in underground dubstep and bass music. Creaky Jackals are always massively impressive but hearing their signature future bass sound in harmony with the dirtier vibes of Hydraulix and Oski creates an awesome, club-ready single. This track is like Flume on crack. Learn more about Creaky Jackals on facebook. Learn more about Hydraulix on...read more
When first introduced to Young Heavy Souls, I was initially intrigued by the hook the name creates but even more that it was a Detroit based label. When I dug a little deeper and had the opportunity to discover the sounds I enjoyed most, I came across Nunca Duerma. Among ten artists featured on the brand, started only in 2011, I found myself entranced by his hip-hop based electronica sound. When I say entranced, I mean his single featured below has me sitting up at 6am listening to the slow rhythm jazzy vibe, accompanied by the outside rain....read more
“Sheets” by Shannon Saunders is a down tempo vocal track featuring an eclectic combination of percussions and strings. The lyrics are creatively designed to flow with the rhythm. Like most deep house, the core of the track is a heavy bass kick that sits comfortably below the vocal. This track is fun, it’s emotional, and great for a quiet night or a long drive. Dope DOD’s “Ridiculous” got a massive overhauling by trap producer Oiki. Originally a very raunchy hip-hop track, the remix keeps the vocal in tact. If there was an EDM subgenre called gangster house, Oiki’s remix of Ridiculous might qualify. The drops are energetic, heavy, and pulsating. The first climax features strong electro sounds while the second drop has a dirtier, grittier feel. Starting as a gangster rap original and being transformed into a club-ready trap banger isn’t an easy task. Learn more about...read more
It took Mark Mendes over a year of hard work but “Take Control”, his latest single is finally out. He says this song is very special to him and that the reason it took so long was because he wanted to get it sounding as perfect as it did in his head. He succeeded in doing so, because the song is outstanding. The anthemic vocals, melodies and drops come together to create a track that stands above the mass amounts of generic progressive house. “Take Control” is a high quality track and maybe Mark’s best to date....read more
LeKtriQue’s EP “Thunder” features two originals: “Thunder” feat Panther, and “Stormtroopers”. Despite falling into two completely different subgenres of electronic dance music, both Thunder and Stormtroopers share similar elements of sound design and composition. The EP’s title track Thunder is a wub-filled drum n bass song that features a hip-hop vocal over very heavy electro drops. Both climaxes introduce entirely new groups of sounds but doesn’t affect the continuity of the track as a...read more
Max Elto is criminally underrated. The Swedish duo are both incredibly talented producers and vocalists. Their versatility is demonstrated once again in “Sjöhäst”, which is the Swedish word for “seahorse”, and also their latest release. Atmospheric pads and light vocals are used to introduce the track, and then the smooth bass, synths and drums take the track to its conclusion. It’s nice to have a more chill, easy going progressive track from time to time and Max Elto deliver a superb one right...read more
